Located a block south of the Pacific Design Center in West Hollywood, the project was a renovation of an existing 3-unit apartment building from the mid-70’s. The original building was very poorly laid out and in dire need of a face lift. The client expressed the need to upgrade the interior of the units to today’s livability standards along with upgrading the façade with a modern unique look. The building was gutted down to the studs; replacing all electric, plumbing and mechanical systems. With a juggling of the interior space, this allowed for the revisioned building to be expressed in a whole new way. Through emphasizing cubic and angled nature of the buildings mass, the façade breaks down in scale and use of material emphasizing and enhancing the interior spaces.
