Located in Val Verde, California in the Castaic Mountains with stunning views towards the mountains and beyond, the project was a new 2350 s.f. house nestled within two hillsides. The client expressed a desire maximize the view towards the mountain and minimize the need for much dirt export. The house is broken into three basic masses and in split level fashion that cascades up the hill. The base, which houses the garage and a small studio space, is rendered in in concrete block. The main living area, which opens up and frames views to the mountains, is rendered in a dark metal standing seam roofing. And the upper sleeping areas, which are more neutral and quite, are rendered in a light, smooth stucco.
